Sevens

 

 

Seven years after the towers fell
it was revealed:

Seven hundred thousand thousand thousand
will be paid

 

Seventy years we may have to wait
for justice to reward
those who were chased
             out of their hearts
             out of their souls
             out of the colour of their skin
and for the guilty to be sought

 

Seven years after the towers fell
compensation will be paid,
which neither you nor I can quantify

 

How many eyes can that money buy?

Does an eye equal an eye?

 

I am afraid!

Seven days after the payment’s made
the earth will disintegrate
for these are sins far too great
for our fragile world
to withstand
