I completed my undergraduate studies and received my B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt in 2002. From 2002 to 2005 I was working as a research and teaching assistant at Alexandria University. In 2005, I received my M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University with a thesis entitled "Random Access Protocols for Future Optical CDMA Networks". Afterwards, I joined the Centre d'Optique, Photonique et Laser (COPL) at Université Laval, Québec, Canada, where I received my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2010 with a thesis entitled "Smooth Upgrade of Existing FTTH Access Networks: SAC-OCDMA and Dense SS-WDM Solutions".

I am currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Photonics Systems Group (PSG) at McGill University, Montreal Canada. I am working with Prof. David V. Plant and doing research in optical access networks.
