Dr. Gordon W. Roberts is currently a James McGill professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at McGill University. Over the years, he has conducted extensive research on mixed-signal testing issues and analog integrated circuit design. He has published over 150 papers, co-authored several text books related to mixed-signal test and analog integrated circuit design, and contributed 11 chapters to other books. Prof. Roberts has received numerous department and faculty awards for teaching electronics to undergraduates, and received several IEEE awards for his work on mixed-signal testing.
Dr. Adel S. Sedra received the B.Sc. degree in Egypt from the Cairo University in 1964 and the M.A.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in Canada from the University of Toronto in 1968 and 1969 respectively, all in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation, Dr. Sedra joined the staff of the University of Toronto and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1972 and to Professor in 1978. After serving as the Chair of the Electrical Engineering department from 1986 to1993, he assumed the position of Vice-President, Provost, and Chief Academic Officer of the University of Toronto. Dr. Sedra's research has centered on the theory an design of circuits for communication and instrumentation systems and has resulted in about 130 papers. In addition to serving as a consultant to industry and government in North America, he has guided over 60 graduate students as well as co-authored three textbooks. One of his books, Microelectronic Circuits (Oxford University Press) which was co-authored with K.C. Smith, is currently in use at hundreds of Universities around the world and has been translated into eight languages. Dr. Sedra has been the recipient of numerous awards throughout his career, including the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Darlington (1984), Guillemin-Cauer (1987), and Education (1984) awards. Most recently Dr. Sedra received the IEEE Education Medal (1996), for outstanding contributions to electrical engineering education.
